To the left is the seed tray used for the aquaponics project. Each seed tray contains 108 slots. Each slot is circle in shape and is relatively deep enough to insert a growth medium with adequate success.
To the left is the growth medium in a sack used for the aquaponics project. A bowl is used to scoop up the growth medium.
The growth medium is placed on the seed tray and then placed evenly into the slots of the seed tray. The excess is then placed back into the sack or put aside for later use.
The growth medium is placed inside the slots and is ready for the seeds. A small opening is made in each slot. This can be done with any small rod shaped object, anything from a drill bit to a tree branch.
White onion seeds are simply placed inside the slots. (To make white onion seeds, purchase a white onion. Separate the onions through their natural partitions, cut off the dangling part opposite of the root and you have a white onion seed)
The same is done for the second tray and the process of seed placing is completed.
Close up of the white onion seeds.
